About the Speakers

Joel B. Walker is Director of Center Operations at NASA-Johnson Space Center. Walker oversees the environmental and planning offices, which are continuously working to create a more environmentally friendly landscape at JSC. He is a member of the JSC “Green Team,” a group that works through various mediums to find creative solutions to environmental issues and sustainability issues onsite and in the areas surrounding JSC..



As Senior Vice President, Clive Hess is responsible for ensuring environmentally responsible end-of-life management for approximately six million pounds of potentially harmful e-waste materials. In addition to ensuring e-waste is handled to according to R2 standards, he negotiates end-of-life electronic asset management contracts with corporations and leasing companies. A 1992 graduate of the University of Houston, Hess serves on the Gulf Coast Recycling Council and the Executive Committee of the Electronic Resource Recovery Council, where he participated in developing the organization’s “Best Management Practices for Procurement, Use and Disposition of Electronics.”
